Despite often having an itchy trigger finger during his time as Inter president, Massimo Moratti has urged the club not to make a hasty decision and part ways with Luciano Spalletti.

Reports had indicated this week that the Beneamata boss had to win a trophy in order to perhaps save his job and saw one opportunity slip through his fingers with the Coppa Italia exit at the hands of Lazio.

As a result, his job is seemingly under pressure and Antonio Conte’s name is among those bandied about most to replace him in the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza hotseat.

“This isn’t the first time that we have arrived in January and the levels have dropped along with the concentration. It isn’t easy to find the reason but they will know it within the club,” Moratti told Rai Sport.

“At this moment, it isn’t easy to find coaches out there who could come in too so why should they change it right now? I don’t know where they could find a good coach who could do the job.

“There is [Diego] Simeone but Conte is a great coach too, although Spalletti also did a good job. A coach doesn’t need to have Inter in their DNA, the important thing is that they do well when they are here.”

Along with Conte, Jose Mourinho has also been linked with a Nerazzurri comeback if they decide to part ways with the former Roma tactician.
