After confirming his departure from Roma, Daniele De Rossi confirmed that he will not be hanging up his boots and intends to continue his playing career.

De Rossi will make his final appearance for Roma in two weeks, just two years after friend and former captain Francesco Totti did the same.

“I still feel like a footballer and I want to continue playing,” De Rossi told the press.

“I still haven’t decided where I will play next. I have never regretted having dedicated my career to Roma.”

Despite being loyal to the Giallorossi, the veteran midfielder has no ill-will towards the club after they called him on his career at the Stadio Olimpico.

“The communication from the club came yesterday, but I’m not stupid and I already expected it,” De Rossi added.

“I understood that if nobody calls upon you for 10 months then that’s the direction they want to go in.

“I was disappointed, I didn’t agree, but it’s the club that makes the decision.”

The future for the World Cup winner is unclear, but he believes that once his playing career does actually come to an end, he will move into coaching.

“I have always said that I’d like to be a coach, although being a director doesn’t interest me,” De Rossi admitted.

“Without wanting to be controversial, I don’t think there is too much influence in that role.

“For now, I’ll leave Totti to do the dirty work.”
