AC Milan have appointed Frederic Massara as their new sporting director.

The former Roma man joins amidst a summer overhaul at the Rossoneri, as Paolo Maldini has been promoted to technical director, Zvonimir Boban is the new chief football officer and Marco Giampaolo has taken over as coach.

“We are very happy to welcome Frederic to our working team,” Maldini stated about the appointment, with Massara expected to report directly to him.

“Thanks to his preparation, seriousness and professionalism he will be an added value to Milan, as well as being functional to the strategies to be undertaken in our growth path.”

Massara featured for several clubs during his playing career, most notably with Pavia, Pescara, Fidelis Andria and Palermo.

He served as Roma’s sporting director during the 2016/17 season, and took over as caretaker this past March after Monchi’s exit.

He also worked with Walter Sabatini at Inter in 2017 and 2018.
