Inter are reportedly weighing up a move for former Liverpool and England striker Daniel Sturridge, who is available on a free transfer after his contract with the European champions expired this summer.

The 29-year-old made just four league starts for the Reds last season as they finished runners-up to Manchester City, before the Merseyside club decided against renewing his contract.

According to Spanish publication Marca, Inter are willing to take a gamble on Sturridge largely because they wouldn’t have to pay an exorbitant fee to sign him, though he would, in all likelihood, command reasonably high wages.

However, given that their prime target, Romelu Lukaku, is expected to cost them in the region of €90 million, Sturridge will help bolster the squad without them having to pay out any further large transfer fees.

Sturridge began his career at Manchester City before moving to Chelsea and then onto Liverpool, whilst he’s been on loan at both Bolton Wanderers and West Bromwich Albion respectively.
