STADIO OLIMPICO (Rome) – Lazio were left to rue missed opportunities after being held to a 1-1 draw by rivals Roma in the Derby della Capitale on Sunday.

Aleksandar Kolarov’s penalty put the Lupi ahead in the first half after Sergej Milinkovic-Savic was pinged for handball.

In a frantic opening half-hour the post was rattled five times, Lazio striking it through Lucas Leiva, Ciro Immobile and Joaquin Correa, while Nicolo Zaniolo was denied by the frame of the goal twice.

The Biancocelesti continued to cause the Roma defence problems after the break and eventually levelled through Luis Alberto’s strike on the hour mark.

But they were again left exasperated when Marco Parolo’s shot hit the cross bar in the closing stages before Manuel Lazzari celebrated a stoppage-time winner only for the goal to be disallowed for an offside in the build-up.

Lazio have picked up four points from their opening two games after beating Sampdoria last weekend, while Paulo Fonseca is yet to record his first win as Roma boss after being held by Genoa.
