Atalanta’s Remo Freuler is confident that the Bergamaschi can complete a remarkable turnaround and qualify from their Champions League group.

La Dea looked dead and buried after losing their first three games in their first ever season in the competition but after drawing with Manchester City in round four and beating Dinamo Zagreb on Tuesday, the Swiss is hopeful.

“We believe we can progress, of course,” he told UEFA.com afterwards.

“We need a win to stay in Europe and, if we’re lucky, the Champions League.”

Atalanta now need to win at Shakhtar Donetsk and hope that Manchester City avoid defeat against Dinamo in the final round of fixtures if they are to reach the last 16 of the competition.

As it stands, the Italians remain bottom of the group with four points, Dinamo are third on five, Shakhtar sit second with six and City have qualified with 11.
