Former AC Milan player Rui Costa believes that Zlatan Ibrahimovic will succeed again in Serie A.

Ibrahimovic has returned to Italian football to rejoin AC Milan after having left Los Angeles Galaxy in November and despite his advancing years, the Portuguese expects him to contribute.

“His age doesn’t matter,” Rui Costa said of the 38-year-old, “if he’s in a position to play then he can do well.

“He’ll be a reference and a stimulus to the rest of the team and the supporters.

“If he’s accepted this project it’s because he still feels like he can do well.”

Moving on to another of his former clubs, Fiorentina, the Portuguese is hopeful that their fortunes will turn under new coach Giuseppe Iachini.

“I’m sorry that the team haven’t been able to do what they’d have like,” he said.

“Now we hope that Iachini will do well.

“I’m convinced that they have the team to achieve the goals they set at the beginning of the season.”
