Former AC Milan midfielder Ruben Buriani has given a scathing review of the current Rossoneri team after drawing 0-0 at home to Sampdoria on Monday, particularly the way they play under Coach Stefano Pioli.

The 64-year-old played for the Diavolo from 1977 until 1982, winning a Serie A title in 1978/79, and he was convinced that the current Rossoneri side were still scarred from the 5-0 humiliation suffered at the end of 2019.

“The impression that I got from this match was not good,” Buriani told TuttoMercatoWeb. “It was an ugly Milan. I saw a slow and predictable squad.

“Perhaps the 5-0 blow from Atalanta has not yet been absorbed but from now on many other things are needed to reach the goal that the club has set itself.

“Now confidence has to be given but at the same time the players must be able to wipe out the negative results by putting in their best on the pitch.

“The words are zero, Milan is ugly.”
