Atalanta are on top of the Serie A table after winning 5-2 against Lecce, and joining them are AC Milan, who earned a 3-0 victory against Spezia.

Parma, Roma, and Benevento registered 1-0 victories against Hellas Verona, Udinese and Bologna respectively, Sassuolo beat Crotone 4-1, Sampdoria won 2-1 against Fiorentina, and Inter drew 1-1 with Lazio.

Genoa v Torino was postponed due to an outbreak of COVID-19 among the Grifone players, and Juventus v Napoli was abandoned after the Partenopei didn’t arrive for the match.

Here is the Team of the Week for the Round 3 of the 2020/21 Serie A season, which is deployed in the usual 3-4-3 formation. Let us know your thoughts!

Luigi Sepe – Parma

Played a vital part in the Ducali earning their first victory of the season. Made some great saves with the diving save on the line from Koray Gunter the standout.

Stefan De Vrij – Inter

Marshalled the defence and gave the Lazio forwards little space to work in. Made the right interventions and knew when to move away from the last line of defence.

Roger Ibanez – Roma

An assuring performance from the Brazilian defender, who impressed with his ball distribution and his awareness in defence.

Gaetano Letizia – Benevento

Covered the right flank with great energy and determination. His tireless running allowed Artur Ionita and Iago Falque to stay in more central channels.

Antonio Candreva – Sampdoria

Provided plenty of width for the Doriani, supplied plenty of good crosses, had three shots saved, and also hit the post with another effort. The Samp penalty came after Fabio Quagliarella tried to run onto his pass and was fouled.

Manuel Locatelli – Sassuolo

The former AC Milan midfielder has been gaining more confidence and he is a key orchestrator of the Neroverdi’s play. Played a part in the opening goal and then scored the fourth against Crotone.

Jasmin Kurtic – Parma

Impressed with his ball use and knew how to get into shooting positions. Scored the winner in the first minute and could have had a second as well.

Alejandro Gomez – Atalanta (3 Team of the Week apps)

The Atalanta talisman had another fine performance in midfield and he gave his team a 2-1 lead with another superb strike.

Pedro – Roma

Provided some much needed attacking spark for the Giallorossi. Nearly opened the scoring in the early minutes of the second half before doing so with a fabulous long-range strike.

Duvan Zapata – Atalanta

Impressed up front with his physical strength, ability to hold up the ball, and work ethic. Assisted for Papu Gomez and scored the fourth with an excellent individual effort.

Rafael Leao – AC Milan

Struggled in the first half on the left-wing but was more dangerous when moved to centre-forward in the second half and he scored a brace.
