Vincenzo Spadafora has said that he will not guarantee that the 2020/21 Serie A season will be completed and he suggested that the Lega Serie A will need to find alternatives if the season is halted by COVID-19.
The 2019/20 league season was prolonged due to the first outbreak of the virus and the Italian Minister of Sport did not want to place any expectations if a similar scenario occurs in this campaign.
“We can do it, but I don’t know if we can go all the way,” Spadafora told La7.
“We have no certainties, neither on Serie A nor on other aspects. Lega Serie A must find a Plan B and a Plan C.”
There were suggestions made for a bubble for Serie A squads to stay in like the NBA basketballers have done in the United States but Spadafora quashed that suggestion.
“When there have been various cases in recent days, I talked about the protocol, which already provides a bubble,” he said.
“If the clubs and players do not respect it, we cannot do anything about it.”
