Now the situation appears to have changed. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the most recent offer from Milan is of €3.5 million per year while Gordon Stipic, Calhanoglu’s agent, has asked for €5 million as well as bonuses.
While still some way apart, there is a belief that they could meet somewhere in the middle.
Stipic met Milan’s board last time on December 16 and a new meeting, possibly to finalise the deal, is expected early in January.
Calhanoglu is the player who provided the most assists in Serie A during 2020 (12) and he is the player with the most chances created in the top five European leagues in this season (53).
“I don’t think there will be problems”, Milan’s coach Stefano Pioli said about the negotiations after the 3-2 win over Lazio.
“Calhanoglu is really comfortable with us. I’m sure that his willing is to stay”.
