Romelu Lukaku is set to miss Sampdoria-Inter on Wednesday with an injury problem.

The striker picked up a muscular issue in his right thigh during the game against Crotone and was forced to leave the pitch.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Belgian will rest on Wednesday in order to be fully fit for the clash against Roma scheduled for January 10.

After the 6-2 win over Crotone, Inter coach Antonio Conte confirmed that Lukaku asked to be subbed the moment he felt pain in order to avoid further damage.

Nevertheless, the medical staff are keen on making Lukaku rest as Inter’s schedule is jam packed, with six games from now until the end of January.

With Lukaku out, Antonio Conte is likely to play one of Alexis Sanchez or Ivan Perisic alongside Lautaro Martinez against Sampdoria.

The Argentinian yesterday scored a hat-trick that allowed Inter to picked up his eighth consecutive win in Serie A. The Nerazzurri are second, one point behind AC Milan.
