Both sides ended the afternoon a little disappointed at the Stadio Ciro Vigorito as Parma and Benevento shared four goals to draw.

Kamil Glik and Artur Ionita were unlikely scorers for the hosts, while Jasmin Kurtic and Dennis Man were both on target for the visiting Crociati.

Set pieces were the source of most of the day’s drama, and Glik took advantage of one in the first half to bundle in Benevento’s opener, taking advantage of some slack Parma defending to tap Federico Barba’s centre.

Kurtic levelled for Parma in the second half, turning in from the corner that his own long-range effort had won after Lorenzo Montipo turned wide.

The Crociati looked to have turned a game around for the first time this season when Riccardo Gagliolo headed past Montipo, but VAR intervened and adjudged Gervinho to have interfered with play from his position behind the Benevento goalkeeper, bringing the visitors’ celebrations to an end.

Not long after, Roberto D’Aversa’s side were behind from another corner. Gianluca Caprari planted a cross onto Artur Ionita’s head and he thumped a powerful header past Luigi Sepe before the Parma ‘keeper had time to react.

Man did level late on with a nicely taken finish, but the Gialloblu were left disappointed to leave Campania with just one point to take back to Emilia-Romagna.

The draw leaves Parma in 19th and three points from Torino in 17th, though the Granata do have a game in hand. The Crociati are still two points of 18th-placed Cagliari, who lost to Hellas Verona.
