Inter coach Antonio Conte says that he and his side can almost smell the Scudetto after a draw with Spezia on Wednesday moved them ever closer to lifting the Scudetto for the first time more than a decade.

Ivan Perisic’s second-half equaliser meant that Inter ended Round 32 ten points clear of second-placed city rivals AC Milan in Serie A, who lost at home to Sassuolo.

“Now we have the possibility to win the Scudetto and do something exceptional,” Conte said in his post-match press conference. “There are always fewer games to play and we are starting to see it [the finish line]. It’s normal to get excited but we need to remain calm and trust our instincts.

“We’re also ok good physically and in good shape to do something great.”

The Inter coach also went on to talk about how his side are getting better and better the longer he’s in charge.

“I expect us to continue to grow,” Conte added. “We are living a new experience, as last year we got to the Europa League final and finished second in Serie A. Now we have the chance to win.

“This is exceptional because it’s something that not only Inter but all of the other teams haven’t managed to do in the last ten years.”
