Croatia coach Zlatko Dalic believes Italy can win the European Championship this summer. He also talked about the effect Antonio Conte has had on Croatians Marcelo Brozovic and Ivan Perisic.
Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, Dalic talked about the manner in which the Azzurri qualified for Euro 2020, saying: “When you win 10 out of 10 in qualifiers like Italy and Belgium it means you have a great team. Italy has the right to aim for victory.”
He also heaped praise upon Inter coach Conte over his treatment of Brozovic and Perisic.
“Conte was important for both Brozovic and Perisic. Ivan is playing well both front and back. He works to always be at the top and even if he plays with us as a striker, I understand the his coach’s work. He has shown that he deserves Inter.”
Dalic alluded to the rough patch that Perisic had at Inter, which saw him spend a year on loan at Bayern Munich.
“Perhaps he had not found an agreement with Conte at the beginning, but now they work well together.”
He added that Brozovic is now in his prime, saying: “He has matured. After so many seasons in Serie A and in Europe, we see a midfielder in the his best years, also thanks to Conte.”
