Lega Serie A president Paolo Dal Pino has said that the 2021 Supercoppa Italiana between Inter and Juventus will be played in Saudi Arabia.

The Middle Eastern nation hosted the 2019 edition and it will make a return there after the 2020 final was played in Reggio Emilia due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The next edition of the Italian Super Cup final will be in Saudi Arabia with the public as per our contract,” Dal Pino said on RAI Radio program Radio Anch’io sport.

“With Inter-Juventus it will be a spot for our football.”

Saudi Arabia has had an abundance of human rights issues but Dal Pino played down any of those controversies.

“We have a contract signed two or three years ago when I wasn’t there,” he said.

“There is a relationship of intense collaboration with the Saudi Arabian federation on women’s football and precisely in going in the direction of opening up human rights.
