Wales defeated Turkey 2-0 at Baku’s Olympic Stadium on Wednesday.

The win came from a composed finish from Juventus’ Aaron Ramsey, and a late one from Connor Roberts.

In the first 25 minutes, the 30-year-old missed two simple chances. However, he eventually broke the deadlock a few moments before half-time. A brilliant long pass from Gareth Bale found the Welsh, controlling it calmly and opening the scoring.

Despite the first half having the most chances created in the tournament so far, it ended with Wales’ one-goal lead.

At the hour-mark, an attempted dribble from Bale found him fouled in the box as the referee pointed to the spot.

The captain skied it over the bar as the 4,000 Turkish supporters in Azerbaijan roared in celebration.

Substitute Mehdi Demiral almost made up for his own goal in the previous game against Italy with a header in the 88th minute. Ward was able to make a crucial save to keep the lead.

Bale doubled his assist tally on the night by skillfully making his way into the box. Cutting the ball back to Roberts who confirmed the three points.

Wales now has four points as they prepare for their challenge against Italy on Sunday.
