Cristiana Girelli and Barbara Bonansea posted on social media after Juventus suffered a 6-0 defeat to Barcelona in the women’s edition of the Joan Gamper Trophy, insisting that Le Bianconere can still have a strong campaign.

Although the men’s edition has been going on since 1966, Tuesday’s match was the first edition played by the women’s teams, and it was a dismal result for La Vecchia Signora and their new coach Joe Montemurro.

However, Juventus striker Girelli remained positive and she is confident that the Italian giants will get back to winning soon.

“Despite the heavy defeat, the path is the right one,” Girelli said on Instagram.

“To work but above all to believe a lot in what we are doing, they will be the key to our future.

“Time to time.”

Her partner in attack Bonansea was more pragmatic in her outlook but she was just as determined to see Juventus bounce back.

“Understanding that we were not at our best and working how to get there,” she said on Instagram.
