Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic has said that I Gigliati will be a surprise performer during the 2021/22 season and that new coach Vincenzo Italiano has already improved the quality of the team.
The 23-year-old has signed a contract extension that will keep him at the Florentine club until 2023 and he also revealed that he did not want to be sold by La Viola despite interest from the likes of Everton and West Ham.
“The new coach impressed me a lot for his ideas and training methods, which I believe will lead us to raise our technical and tactical levels,” Milenkovic told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“After four years I needed to understand the club’s ambitions and the direction they wanted to take. The new coach impressed me a lot.
“The future is today. At the base of everything, then there is the affection received. Despite very high offers from major European clubs, I never asked to be sold.
“I would like to give the opportunity to aspire to important goals, to experience great emotions. Fiorentina will be the surprise of the year.”
