Eusebio Di Francesco was sacked by Hellas Verona on Tuesday and Igor Tudor immediately replaced him as coach of the Gialloblu.

The 52-year-old failed to register a victory in the opening three rounds of the 2021/22 season, making this his fourth sacking in four seasons after spells at Roma, Sampdoria, and Cagliari.

“Hellas Verona FC announce that they have relieved Eusebio Di Francesco from the position of coach of the first team,” the club said on their official website.

“The Gialloblu board would like to thank Mr. Di Francesco and his staff, Francesco Tomei, Stefano Romano, Giancarlo Marini and Franco Giammartino, for the activity carried out up to now.”

Shortly after, Hellas Verona announced the former Juventus and Croatia defender as Di Francesco’s replacement.

“Hellas Verona FC announces that they have entrusted the technical management of the first team to Mr. Igor Tudor, who has joined the Gialloblu club until the end of the current football season, 2021/22,” the club said on their official website.

“Born in Split on April 16, 1978, Igor Tudor began his coaching career as the assistant coach of Mr. Edoardo Reja at Hajduk Spilt, a club in which he also coached the youth team.

“It is Udinese who bring him back to Italy, this time as a coach: with the Friuliani he earns two consecutive salvations.

“After returning to the helm of Hajduk Split, in the 2020/21 season he rejoins Juventus, where he holds the position of assistant coach. The season in black and white ends with the conquest of the Italian Cup and the Italian Super Cup.

“The club gives Mr. Igor Tudor a warm welcome and wishes him good work.”
