AC Milan have opened talks with Algerian midfielder Ismael Bennacer with the aim of getting him to extend his time at the club.

The 23-year-old midfielder has become more important to the Rossoneri than his current contract represents so the club wants to make sure he feels valued and does not leave.

He currently earns less than €2 million per season at Milan, but the reports from TMW do not specify what sort of increase he is set to receive.

Progress may not be extremely quick because the current deal that Bennacer has does not run out until June 2024, and the Rossoneri have room to manoeuvre.

Attention is also set to focus on a renewal for fellow midfielder Franck Kessie, with the Ivory Coast international into the final year of his existing deal and at risk of leaving for free at the end of the campaign.

Bennacer joined Milan from Empoli in 2019 and has made 75 appearances in all competitions, scoring once.
