AC Milan striker Olivier Giroud is relishing the opportunity to work alongside fellow Rossoneri forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The Frenchman moved to Serie A to join Milan in the summer and has now entered a rotation up front with Ibrahimovic, who has been at the club since 2020.

Whilst speaking to L’Equipe, Giroud explained that he was asked by the club when he signed if he could work together with Ibrahimovic or not.

“If I had not been ready for this coexistence and if I had not thought I could play with him or compete with him, I would never have entered that office for the signature,” Giroud said.

“Ibra has never scared me, it is an opportunity for me to be able to improve further with him and to learn from a player with an exceptional career like his. Zlatan is a leader, we complement each other.”

Giroud and Ibrahimovic have a combined age of 75 but the French striker thinks that doesn’t matter as they are both still hungry for success, saying: “His charisma is indisputable, as is his presence and leadership in the locker room and on the pitch.

“I bring added value and I also bring my experience. The important thing is that we are both still very hungry for success.”
