Atalanta defender Merih Demiral reckons that Atalanta are in with a good chance of winning Serie A for the first time in their history.
The 23-year-old centre-back and former Juventus man has outlined the differences between La Dea and the Bianconeri after leaving Turin for Bergamo last summer. The Turkish defender also stated that a Scudetto win isn’t out of reach for the Bergamaschi.
“Atalanta to win the Scudetto? Everything is possible,” Demiral told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “Gian Piero Gasperini is the reason I came here, but his training sessions are so tough.
“Nobody has ever pushed me like this before and that’s the main difference between Atalanta and Juventus.
“I had other offers, but after speaking to the boss [Gasperini] I knew it would be a great opportunity”.
La Dea have won Serie B six times since their foundation, as well as picking up a Coppa Italia in season 1962/63, but haven’t yet managed to win Italy’s top division.
