A brace for Gianluca Caprari secured a valuable three points for Hellas Verona and earned the attacker Serie A Player of the Week for Round 20.
The Mastini overcame Spezia 2-1 at the Stadio Alberto Picco thanks to the Italian, although an 85 minute goal from Martin Erlic ensured a nervous end to proceedings on Thursday afternoon.
It wasn’t until half an hour from normal time before Caprari broke the deadlock, though, when he drifted into the Aquilotti penalty box and slid the ball under Ivan Provedel.
The 28-year-old then sent a wonderful long range effort flying past the goalkeeper 10 minutes later to ultimately win the game for the Gialloblu.
