Sporting director Tiago Pinto has said that Jordan Veretout has not been excluded from the Roma squad, despite missing a training session due to his wife’s birthday party.
The 29-year-old had travelled to Monte Carlo to celebrate with his wife, who still had a party despite testing positive for COVID-19 a day earlier, and he also refused to sign a contract renewal recently with the Giallorossi.
“He is not available but we hope to find him again soon,” Pinto told DAZN.
“He has been an important player over the years and we look forward to him. He is still part of the project.”
Veretout has scored 22 goals in 120 competitive matches for Roma since his arrival from Fiorentina in 2019 but he has lost his place in the starting line-up since the arrival of Portuguese midfielder Sergio Oliveira in January.
The France international’s contract with Roma expires at the end of June 2024.
