STADIO GIUSEPPE MEAZZA (Milan)Ivan Perisic shone again in Inter‘s final Serie A match, as his opener helped the Nerazzurri defeat Sampdoria 3-0, a win which however was not enough to retain the title, as AC Milan’s triumph at Sassuolo earned them the Scudetto.

The Croatian was also involved in Joaquin Correa’s second while negotiations to renew his contract seems to be at a standstill. Simone Inzaghi could struggle to find a proper replacement in terms of both consistency and effectiveness, which will certainly be needed if the Nerazzurri are to make another title challenge next year.

Inter player ratings vs Sampdoria

Handanovic 6.5; Skriniar 6, De Vrij 6.5 (73′ Ranocchia 6), Bastoni 6 (59′ Dimarco 6); Dumfries 6, Barella 6.5 (59′ Vidal 6), Brozovic 6.5, Calhanoglu 6.5, Perisic 7 (59′ Gosens 6); Correa 7 (73′ Caicedo 6), Lautaro Martinez 6.5.

Player of the match – Ivan Perisic

The Croatian winger wrapped up his best season since becoming an Inter player with yet another goal, bringing his total tally to eight in Serie A.

Although the one he scored against Sampdoria didn’t prove decisive, unlike a lot of his others, it was Perisic’s way of warning the Nerazzurri of what they may be losing next season should he leave as a free agent in June – a relentless and experienced player that could make the difference both on the pitch and inside the changing room.
