37 year old Edin Dzeko has enjoyed a very good professional playing career since coming through Zeljeznicar’s youth Academy all those years ago, and it seems that despite his age, he is not yet quite ready to hang up his boots and as he confirmed his departure from Serie A side Inter Milan, he has announced that he is moving to Turkey to experience their Super Lig having agreed terms with Fenerbahce.

He will make the move to the Turkish side as a free agent when his existing contract at Milan comes to a natural end at the start of next month, and although he was only with the side for two seasons, he added to his impressive medal collection by helping them to lift two Coppa Italia titles in that time, and his final game for them was, of course, the Champions League Final clash out in Istanbul where they narrowly lost out 1-0 to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side.

Taking to his Instagram page to his announce his new soon to be two year deal with Fenerbahce, he explained.

“Goodbye Inter, it’s been two wonderful years. It has been an amazing journey. We’re parting ways now, but thank you.”

Having had a good spell in the German Bundesliga with Wolfsburg where he ultimately helped them to lift their first ever title, and became their all time top scorer in 2010, he moved on having scored 66 times in 111 league games. The 129 capped Bosnia and Herzegovina international striker made the switch to the English Premier League and spent a few years with Manchester City where he added 50 more goals to his tally in 130 league appearances. His time in Manchester was also a success as he was a two time Premier League winner, and his goalscoring touch continued as he moved to Italy and Roma, before making the switch to Inter.

Media reports suggest that he will receive £3.6 million per season whilst he is with Fenerbahce, and with the side finishing as runners up to Galatasaray last season, Dzeko will be hoping to play his part in firing them to the title in the 2023/24 campaign and adding a fresh winners medal to his collection.
