Well, the time is almost finally here and preparations continue for Torino’s big 2023/24 kick off against FeralpiSalo in the first round of the Coppa Italia on Monday evening before they then prepare for their Serie A kick off against Cagliari on August 21.

Plenty of business has again been conducted in the summer transfer window, and if the rumour mill is to be believed, Torino could well see a further departure before the European transfer window closes, as English Premier League side Liverpool are again being linked with a potential move for defender Perr Schuurs.

Manager Jurgen Klopp has untaken quite a significant rebuild of his first team in the last couple of months, and it is believed that they are still in the market for a left sided centre back option, and as previously linked targets have either moved onto other clubs, or in the case of Levi Colwill, he has now signed a new contract extension with Chelsea, so 23 year old Schuur has returned to the fore front of the speculation.

The Torino defender has been repeatedly linked with a move to the Premier League in recent years, but nothing has ever come of it, but Calciomercato have now claimed that Liverpool are firming up their plans for the Dutch international, but they also namecheck London based West Ham United as keeping tabs on him.

Crystal Palace were linked as having an interest at one stage, but having seen their £26 million offer rejected, with Torino apparently being ‘inflexible’ in their valuation of £35 million for a sale to go through, the Selhurst Park outfit have now turned their attentions elsewhere.

Calciomercato do confirm that their information does say that the former Premier League winners are yet to put in a firm offer for the player, but that they feel it is simply a matter of time at this stage – so much so in fact that Torino are said to now actively be scouting replacement alternatives for the so far uncapped player.

Other outlets do suggest that Manchester United an Erik ten Hag could come into the mix for him over the course of the next week, as out of favour England international Harry Maguire’s move to West Ham is expected to be fully complete in time for their domestic league kick off.

Ten Hag, of course, does know the player, and his strengths well from their time together in the Dutch Eredivisie with Ajax.

This could finally be one to watch.
