With the emergence of the Saudi Arabia Pro League last summer, it feels that this time around Serie A clubs may be looking to capitalise even further on the United Kingdom market. In the chase to snare new talent for the Italian domestic game, if reports are to be believed, three clubs have joined the chase for Aberdeen’s Bojan Miovski.
The 22 capped North Macedonian international striker made the switch to the Scottish Premiership back in the summer of 2022, and the now 25 year old has been enjoying himself in their league. With almost a 100 appearances to his name for them, he has scored 44 times across all competitions, and his form appears to have caught the eye of quite a few potential suitors.
There three main clubs in Italy being linked with having a more long term interest in his services are Bologna, Hellas Verona and Udinese and all three are being openly namechecked in the media, but there are speculated to be one or two more who as yet remain anonymous.
Bologna are an easy go to here, as it is fully expected they will soon have some money to burn as it is rumoured Dutch striker Joshua Zirkzee will soon complete his expected move to Manchester United, and talks with Arsenal over defender Riccardo Calafiori are now apparently at an advanced stage. The two deals together could net them £50-70 million.
No bids are in yet, but things are expected to hot up once this summers’ 2024 European Championship Finals come to an end and clubs, and players, begin their proper preparations for the return of pre season training.
Negotiations could well be interesting as Miovski still has two years remaining on his contract at the club, and if there are a few clubs sniffing around him this summer, Aberdeen will be hoping to hold out for at least in the ballpark of their prior sale of Calvin Ramsey to Liverpool, who ultimately went for a total fee of around £6.5 million when add on clauses were factored in.
Aberdeen are on record as saying when offers come in that are right, they will be accepted if it also suits the player, and from their point of view anything in the region of £5 million would be a significant make up and profit on the claimed £500,000 they paid Hungarian outfit MTK two years ago.
Given the Rossoblu successfully signed Scottish international Lewis Ferguson from the same club previously, they would undoubtedly consider themselves to be in pole position here.
Now we find out if they have a real interest or not?
