The new Serie A season is back and the hype could not be greater. With the recent release of the EPL Price Index, fans are wondering how much they are going to need to shell out to follow the league(s) of their choice. With the season still in its infancy, Serie A fans are no different.
This article provides a comprehensive preview of the new Serie A season as well as important info on where to watch on TV and via live streaming. Most importantly, it explains the price of following the Italian top flight during what should be an exciting season.
Serie A preview – what to expect
Inter clinched their 20th top-flight title last season with a significant 19-point lead over city rivals AC Milan. Many are expecting this season’s title race to be a lot closer and to potentially feature more teams with the likes of Juventus on the up.
There have been some interesting moves. Alexis Sánchez has returned to Udinese where he started his European club career in perhaps the most romantic transfer of the summer window.
Meanwhile, Serie A has also welcomed some former Premier League stars for this new season – ex-Manchester United defender Raphaël Varane has joined Cesc Fàbregas’ Como side on a free transfer, while David de Gea returns to top-flight football at Fiorentina.
Perhaps making the most headlines was Aston Villa and Brazil midfielder Douglas Luiz and his move to Juventus.
Also, Ché Adams moved from Southampton to Torino and Nuno Tavares made a loan move from Arsenal to Lazio. Spurs’ Emerson Royal also moved to AC Milan.
Promoted sides Parma, Venezia and Como are back in Serie A action.
How to watch Serie A in the UK
TNT Sports holds the rights to broadcast Serie A matches in the UK and Ireland. They recently entered a new three-season agreement with the league, which runs until the end of 2026/27 season.
Last year, streaming service ITVX showed a few Saturday night Serie A matches towards the end of the campaign at no extra charge. However, there has been no announcement suggesting that this arrangement will continue.
The quickest way to sign up for TNT Sports is via discovery+ Premium (including TNT Sports), which provides access to its content along with discovery+ entertainment and Eurosport programming. This bundle costs £30.99 per month and is not a fixed-term contract setup – you can pay per month for more flexibility.
That means it will cost just over £300 to follow the entire 2024/25 Serie A season in the UK on TNT Sports.
Keeping track of Serie A stats
The official Serie A website provides comprehensive stats including league tables, top scorers and matchday-by-matchday form tracking for each club during the season.
For top scorers’ details, head to the Statistics portal on their website then select ‘Player’ on the right side of the page, followed by selecting your desired season from the drop-down menu towards the left side of the page, where you’ll find the ‘Goals’ table listing top goal scorers.
The Capocannoniere Award is given to each season’s top scorer, which was renamed as the Paolo Rossi Award in 2021 honouring the late World Cup-winning striker.
Whether you’re a dedicated Serie A obsessive or more of a casual fan of the league, this upcoming Serie A season promises thrilling action from start to finish.
