Two Italian Clubs Tracking Premier League Flop

Like most major European leagues, the Italian Serie A transfer window is slowly drawing to a close but that certainly does not mean that the speculation rumour mill has begun to slow down yet as we have a few weeks left in the first month of the New Year for deals to go through and it seems that Beto could be set for a return to the division.

After a successful loan spell at Udinese, he made the switch to the Stadio Friuli permanent in the 2022/23 campaign, and English Premier League side Everton quickly snapped up the now 26 year old late on in the summer of 2023.

Since his move to Goodison Park he has earned four caps for Guinea-Bissau, but he has not had a great spell in Merseyside, making only 14 starts, with 39 substitute showings from the bench and across those games he has returned eight goals.

Following a change of ownership, and a recent change of manager, it is being reported that Everton are finally ready to cut their losses this month and that they are looking to move him on to free up some space in their squad, and raise some much needed finance as new gaffer David Moyes looks to get the club back on an upward curve.

Italian reporter Gianluca Di Marzio has recently claimed that both Como, and Torino, are very interested in seeing if they can make a move happen before deadline day, and that Torino in particular have been looking at him for a while now.

Despite his lack of game time, and the fact that he has featured for them 16 times across all competitions in the 2024/25 campaign, he has still failed to really impress, so few in the wider world of football would expect Everton to actually be demanding a hefty or significant transfer fee here – but one obvious sticking point could be the kind of wage he is looking to secure here moving forward.

With a potential roadblock or two in place for any club to get a deal over the line this month, it has been claimed that tentative enquiries have already taken place in an effort to assess where any potential future discussions should begin as a starting point. With that starting point being rumoured by some to be a transfer fee in the region of £10 million, then it will simply be a non-starter as his record, and form, simply does not justify an outlay of that kind for a player who is essentially looking to reignite their own career.
