Several Serie A clubs have successfully raided the Premier League to sign players in recent years and the trend looks set to continue this summer.
According to Football Today, around 80 senior players in the English top flight will become free agents when their contracts expire at the end of June.
With that in mind, read on was we look at six Premier League players who could be targeted by Serie A clubs during the summer transfer window.
Thomas Partey – Arsenal
Although Thomas Partey has been impressive for Arsenal this season, the club have yet to open talks about extending his stay at the Emirates Stadium.
The 31-year-old’s versatility makes him a useful asset for the Gunners, but they may decide the time is right to replace him with a younger option.
Injuries have plagued Partey during his time with Arsenal, although he has managed to steer clear of any issues this season.
The slightly calmers waters of Serie A may suit Partey as he heads towards the end of his career and it would be no surprise to see him move there this summer.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin – Everton
Injuries have also been a common theme for Dominic Calvert-Lewin during his time at Everton and they may be ready to cut him loose this summer.
Atalanta were linked with the 27-year-old earlier this season and sent a representative to Merseyside to try and lure him to the Italian top flight.
Newcastle United have also been touted as a potential destination, but Calvert-Lewin would probably be unwilling to play second fiddle to Alexander Isak.
Serie A could be an appealing proposition for a striker who has failed to live up to expectations in the rough and tumble of the Premier League.
Sergio Reguilon – Tottenham Hotspur
Besiktas and Galatasaray were interested in signing Sergio Reguilon during the winter transfer window and may renew their interest at the end of the season.
However, Lazio and Napoli have previously been linked with moves for the full-back and may fancy their chances of signing him on a free transfer.
Despite their well-documented defensive struggles this season, Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has rarely utilised Reguilon.
Relatively successful loan stints at Manchester United and Brentford demonstrate that the 28-year-old could be a useful acquisition on a free transfer.
Victor Lindelof – Manchester United
Victor Lindelof joined Manchester United from Benfica in 2017, but has never quite fulfilled the promise he showed with the Portuguese giants.
The Red Devils splashed the cash on two centre-backs last summer and have also added some prosing defensive youngsters to their ranks.
Lindelof’s contract expires this summer and he is expected to leave Old Trafford. A move to Inter Milan is on the cards and would appeal to the Swedish international.
The Nerazzurri are generally shrewd with their transfer dealings and Lindelof fits the profile of the type of players they sign.
Christian Eriksen – Manchester United
Christian Eriksen will be allowed to leave Man United at the end of the season and the opportunity to link up with a former teammate could be on the agenda.
The midfielder no longer has the legs to cope with the intensity of the Premier League, but could find a safe haven in Italian football.
Napoli have already had success in signing Scott McTominay from Man Utd and may view Eriksen as a low-risk acquisition on a free transfer.
A return to Ajax has also been mooted, but the Danish international may feel he has unfinished business in Serie A having previously played for Inter.
Tariq Lamptey – Brighton & Hove Albion
Brighton & Hove Albion manager Fabian Hurzeler is focused on getting the best out of right-back Tariq Lamptey while he remains at the club.
The 24-year-old has been utilised on the opposite flank in the last few matches in place of the injured Pervis Estupinan, and has produced some impressive performances.
Despite this, there has been little talk about a new contract and a move elsewhere will likely happen at the end of the season.
Lamptey’s style of play is ideally suited to Serie A and one of the top clubs may attempt to sign him this summer.
