Proper Italian football returns this weekend after the recent international break, and as we continue edging closer to the end of the 2024/25 Serie A campaign and the summer transfer window, Fiorentina’s Moise Kean is back amongst the headlines on the speculation rumour mill and the 25 year old old in form striker is being linked with a return to the Premier League, but this time potentially with either Tottenham Hotspur or Aston Villa.

Having heavily impressed in the Italian game as he came through the ranks at Juventus, Everton were tempted into paying £25 million for him back in the summer of 2019 but his spell in Merseyside was not a success, and he has spent the last few seasons rebuilding his reputation with the Old Lady, and at the start of this campaign he made the switch to Florence and he has absolutely not looked back.

31 starting appearances into his life at Fiorentina have seen a return of 21 goals and the 21 capped Italian international is clearly loving life again on the pitch, and with interest growing in him again the only real question is whether or not the club would look to more speedily cash in on him and just over double their money (18 million Euro signing) in the space of just 12 months.

Spurs are said to be keen on him as it is expected that Richarlison will leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer, and there are continuing doubts surrounding the future of Son Heung-Min who has looked half the player since they allowed Harry Kane to move on to the Bundesliga. From the perspective of the Midlanders, the somewhat unexpected January transfer of starlet Jhon Duran has left them short of options at the top of the pitch, and it was well known that his departure led to the quick loan swoop of Marcus Rashford.

Out of the two clubs, Spurs probably have the edge in terms of holding a real interest in Kean’s services as his release fee is reportedly in the ballpark of the buy clause Villa have negotiated on Rashford and given the way the England international has adjusted to life at Villa Park they would undoubtedly prefer to secure him on a permanent basis – particularly given Kean’s previous Premier League struggles which would be an unknown concern.

With a couple of months left in the season any potential transfer could well come down to whether or not Fiorentina succeed in their efforts to extend his contract and either increase (or remove) the release fee that is at play.
