Nocerina’s appeal against expulsion from Lega Pro and various bans for their players and directors has been rejected by the FIGC.

The club were punished after a bizarre ‘derby of hate’ against Salernitana on November 10 2013 in which numerous players faked injuries with three substitutions made in the opening minute before a five further players went off injured forcing the referee to abandon the game in the 21st minute.

The players appeared scared and did not want the game to take place after receiving threats from their fans who wanted the derby to be called off.

As reported by news agency ANSA, The FIGC’s Court of Justice dismissed the Mastini’s appeal and upheld their initial verdict that Nocerina are guilty of sporting fraud that was reached on January 29.

As a result the decision to expel the club from the Lega Pro Prima Divisione and to issue bans to players and directors ranging from 15 months to three years and six months remains.

The FIGC are yet to decide which lower division Nocerina will be assigned to following their expulsion from the third tier and the club also received a €10,000 fine.
