Carpi at the Stadio Dall’Ara on Sunday afternoon in Serie A as the away side picked up a vital point for their survival hopes.

It was a cagey affair but the Felsinei could have won it in the second half as Emanuele Giaccherini and Daniele Gastaldello were denied by the frame of the goal.

For the majority of the first half, the Rossoblu were controlling the play while the Biancorossi were content to soak up the pressure. Amadou Diawara’s long-range shot flew over the bar and then Saphir Taider brought out a fingertip save out of Capri goalkeeper Vid Belec. Matteo Mancosu side-footed a shot and Bologna goalkeeper Antonio Mirante saved it at the near post.

Fabrizio Castori’s side came out of their shell in the last five minutes of the half, with Mancosu forcing another two saves from Mirante and Isaac Cofie shooting across the goal. Giaccherini then forced a save out Belec in stoppage time.

In the second half, Roberto Donadoni’s side tried to maintain possession while the Biancorossi kept sitting back. Mattia Destro went on a solo run but Carpi defender Fabrizio Poli blocked his shot and then Sergio Floccari had an attempt blocked by Cristian Zaccardo.

Giaccherini took a shot from the edge of the box and it hit the post while Gastaldello’s overhead kick hit the crossbar. Destro nearly won it in stoppage time but Belec dived comfortably to get the ball.

Bologna go to ninth in the Serie A table with 36 points and Carpi remain in 19th with 22 points but keep their mathematical hopes of survival alive.
