Lazio defender Michael Ciani expressed his anger at being denied a transfer away from Stadio Olimpico on deadline day.

The 30-year-old was linked with late moves to West Ham United or Metz that never materialised.

The centre-back to Twitter to express his annoyance and posted an emoticon holding a gun to its own head in what has been perceived as an expression of frustration.

“I’m disgusted,” was Ciani’s response to messages of support from fans telling him to keep his head up and keep going.

Ciani made 18 appearances for Lazio during the 2013-14 Serie A season and scored one goal for the Biancocolesti.

The French defender’s place in the squad came under question following the arrival of defensive reinforcements at the Stadio Olimpico including Stefan de Vrij who partnered Lorik Cana in the Aquile’s season opening day defeat away at AC Milan.

Ciani had previously declared that we wanted to stay and help Lazio qualify for European competition but it has yet to be seen how his comments on Twitter will affect his relationship with the club.
