Former Juventus and Real Madrid star Zinedine Zidane has been linked with the Sampdoria head coaching job to replace the departing Sinisa Mihajlovic.

Current Blucerchiati boss Mihajlovic announced his intention to leave the Genoa based side at the end of his contract last month and there has been plenty of speculation surrounding who would be his successor with Paulo Sousa being named favourite, however he appears to be delaying on making a decision.

The latest name is that of Real Madrid Castilla coach Zidane, according to Il Secolo XIX, who could be tempted with a quick step to running a top flight outfit. It is also reported that la Samp are also evaluating former Olympiacos head coach Michel and Porto boss Julen Lopetegui.

The search for a new man at the helm has mainly taken the Blucerchiati abroad after one of their primary targets, Walter Mazzarri, apparently declined the role.

One response to “Zidane linked with Sampdoria coach vacancy”

  1. Sinisa Mihajlovic has not announced yet his plans for next season, this part of the story is factually inaccurate. Samp is merely planning for a possible departure.
