Napoli Sampdoria HiguainNapoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has suggested the early arrival of Gonzalo Higuain at the club’s training camp is to possibly discuss a contract renewal.

The Argentine has been at the centre of huge transfer speculation since the end of last season, with various teams from Serie A and the English Premier League linked with the forward, but there now seems to be an increased chance of Higuain extending his stay in Naples.

“Is Higuain going to renew? Do you think he’d be here otherwise?” said president De Laurentiis when quizzed by a fan at a supporter event in Dimaro, as reported by Tutto Napoli.

It has been rumoured that the 27-year-old has been offered a vastly improved salary as part of a proposal which would see the former Real Madrid star commit his future to the Partenopei until 2019.

However with the renewal still yet to be agreed, Manchester United, Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea are still monitoring the situation closely.
