Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanovic could be set for a surprise departure from the club – after it seemed he was close to penning a new contract recently.

Just over two weeks ago, the former Udinese net-minder looked likely to be committing his future to the club, extending until 2018 with an increase in both wages and bonuses.

However, his agent Federico Pastorello has admitted there has been a breakdown in talks, telling FCInterNews.it: “Things have changed now. We have broken off negotiations for the extension.

“We will possibly resume them again in September if important offers have not arrived. For the moment, there is no renewal – that is what we have decided. At this time, the offers that have arrived for him do not interest us.

“He is happy with how the club are performing in the transfer market and will remain for now. All doors are open though and we have not ruled out any possibilities.”

The Slovenian star’s current contract expires in June 2016.
