AC Milan are still hopeful of signing Zenit Saint Petersburg midfielder Axel Witsel this summer.

The transfer market has almost closed in Italy, with the Rossoneri spending almost €90 million in the window this far.

But Sport Mediaset claim Milan are hopeful of one more addition in the form of Zenit star Axel Witsel.

Talks began this morning with the Russians, with a loan offer with a buyout clause on the table.

Zenit, however, want to ensure the buyout clause in the deal is obligatory, should Witsel exit.

Milan will make a final attempt to sign the Belgium international before the window shuts.

Talks are also ongoing with Lazio for the swap of Riccardo Montolivo and Senad Lulic.

Should Witsel join the Rossoneri, then talks are expected to cease with Lazio.
