Genoa at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris to be testing for his side.

The Gialloblu kicked off their season in impressive fashion with a creditable 1-1 home draw against title hopefuls Roma, however Mandorlini believes that match against Genoa represents an altogether different test for his players.

“Against Roma we performed well and are happy, however each game represents a different story,” Mandorlini told the press during his pre-match press conference.

“Genoa have a lot of enthusiasm and performed well against Palermo, so it will be a tough game.

“[Gian Piero]Gasperini has made a lot of changes and he’s a very prepared coach and they’ve become a lot stronger at home.

“We will have to be strong throughout the game, it is a tough obstacle but it will be likewise for them.”

Mandorlini also reiterated that he hopes the transfer window slams shut next week without Verona losing any of their key players with the likes of Brazilian midfielder Romulo and Jacopo Sala linked with an exit from the Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi.

“I hope Sala and Romulo both stay,” said Mandorlini.

“Romulo is recovering well even if he still lacks a bit of pace, whilst Sala is doing great.

“Other signings? I do not care, the club deals with this business so we’ll have to wait and see.”
