Felipe Anderson - Lazio's new number 10.

Lazio winger Felipe Anderson believes that his side got outclassed by Bayer Leverkusen in the second leg of the Champions League qualifiers on account of a lack of experience.

The Biancocelesti came into the second-leg with a slight 1-0 advantage from last week’s first-leg, but were beaten comprehensively by a scoreline of 3-0 in Germany, knocking them out of the Champions League and into the Europa League for the upcoming season.

“We should have maintained the advantage from the first leg and exploited them more on the counterattack,” said the 22-year-old to Mediaset.

“We also paid for the absence of the more experienced players.” he continued.

Anderson, personally acknowledged that he had a substandard game but he hopes to regain his confidence by taking help from his teammates.

“With the confidence of my team-mates, I can return to being the player I was last season.

In attack we kept the ball but they played aggressively and we stood no chance. We need to turn the page on this one.” he concluded.

Lazio’s next Serie A game is an away trip to Chievo on Sunday evening.
