Pato - AC MilanSporting director of Corinthians, Edu Gaspar, has confirmed that Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger is eager to sign former AC Milan striker Alexandre Pato.

The ex-Arsenal man has admitted that he dined with his former boss Wenger, also revealing that he was specifically asked upon Pato’s availability in the January transfer window.

“I was not there to try to sell him [Pato] but if people ask about a player, then I’m going to respond,” said Edu to Timao. “I had lunch with Wenger and he asked me primarily about Pato but also about some other players as well.”

The player also published a photo on his personal Instagram account, confirming the meeting he had with the Premier League coach.

Tottenham Hotspur have also declared an interested in the player, although it now seems they will face extremely stiff competition from their local Premier League rivals in obtaining the player’s signature.

The 26-year-old only returned to his native Brazil in 2013 and has spent the previous year on-loan with Sao Paolo, however it has since emerged that he is desperate for a move back to Europe.

During his time in Italy, Pato made 117 Serie A appearances for Milan, scoring 51 league goals.
