Roberto Mancini InterInter coach Roberto Mancini has revealed he has not spoken to Andrea Pirlo about a move back to the club.

The former Juventus star moved to MLS side New York City earlier in the year but has been linked with a return to Italy, however, Mancini was more concerned about talking about his side.

“I have not talked to Pirlo, the rumours are not true,” Mancini told reporters at his pre match press conference ahead of the match against Torino.

“In football anything can happen but for now there is nothing to report.

“I dont know what Pirlo wants to do in the future and now the MLS season is over.

“It is up to Pirlo not myself or Inter.

“Pirlo is a champion but he can not play every week at his age and with his fitness concerns.

“In the future we may look to buy players with Pirlo’s characteristics.”

Mancini then went onto speak about Inter’s 1-0 win against Roma last week but the Inter boss does not believe the result means they are title favourites.

“I dont think we are the best team because we beat Roma,” Mancini added.

“Teams like Roma and Napoli have played together for longer than us, they have a big advantage.

“There are still a lot of things that we have to improve on.”

The former Manchester City manager also had his say on captain Mauro Icardi and the upcoming game against Torino.

“The fact Icardi was on the bench against Roma, should not be read into, it happens to all players,” Mancini continued.

“He needs to start scoring more but I have faith that he will get better.

“Torino have been superb over recent years and they will prove a tough test.

“They play a 3-5-2 and defend really well. We have to be at our best to win.”
