Premier League side Liverpool are thought to be interested in making a move for Empoli midfielder Riccardo Saponara.
Saponara has enjoyed a fruitful spell at the Tuscan club since returning in January 2015 after a short and unsuccessful stint at AC Milan.
La Nazione report that the Azzurri are reluctant to see their star man go in the upcoming January transfer window, but might be more open to selling him in the summer.
It had been reported that a stay in Serie A was most likely for Saponara, with Scudetto holders Juventus and Fiorentina looking to secure his signature, but interest from the Anfield club could sway the playmaker to England.
The 23-year-old has been in fine form for Marco Giampaolo’s side so far this season and has contributed with four goals and a further five assists in his ten Serie A appearances to date.
