Gasperini - GenoaGenoa coach Gian Piero Gasperini has cast doubt over his future after their disappointing 2-0 defeat to Bologna.

Emmanuel Giaccherini gave Bologna the lead before former Genoa man Sergio Floccari doubled their advantage in the second half.

“At the start we suffered from our opponent’s energy, but we recovered and had a decent first half,” Gasperini told Sky Sport Italia.

Despite the introduction of Suso and Diego Capel in the second half, the Grifone could not break through the Bologna defence.

“We didn’t have the same intensity as in other matches,” Gasperini bemoaned,” “We need to evaluate as we should be pushing for the Europa League.”

The Grifone ended the previous season in 6th, but had to cede their place in European competition to rivals Sampdoria and after a disappointing season, Gasperini is unsure about his future.

“I will speak with the club about my future, I have put myself at their disposal,” Gasperini concluded his interview.

The result means Genoa could drop from 10th to 12th, with their chances of catching those ahead slipping away.
