Serie A’s Most Wanted

As the end of the season draws near a long summer without football lies ahead of us. And just like every pre season without an international tournament, the only way to get your football fix is by joining in with all the transfer gossip. But the question for fans of the Italian game is who will be leaving for England or Spain? Here are some suggestions based on the always dubious gossip columns.

Alexis Sanchez

The young Chilean winger has been lighting up Serie A for three seasons. Despite being linked with Liverpool, Inter, and both Manchester Clubs he remains at Udinese. Sanchez has been a key factor in a successful campaign for the little zebras, his strike partnership with Antonio Di Natale has been one of the most successful in Serie A history. Their current total has even surpassed the famous Maradona-Careca Partnership. So despite a stellar season sky rocketing his value, a massive offer may be too much to refuse for the Udinese hierarchy.

Javier Pastore

In the aftermath of Palermo’s semi final cup victory over AC Milan, Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini declared it would take 60 million euros to poach the youngster. This would have been music to the ears of Manchester City and Real Madrid, who would have no problem raising the funds. Although the price may seem steep, the Argentinean midfielder is still only twenty-one and has a bright future ahead of him. Pastore has two years of top-flight football under his belt and has already earned eight caps in an Argentinean team that has a surplus of talented midfielders.

Edinson Cavani

Cavani’s club Napoli are apparently set to offer the Uruguayan a new contract, which would extend his stay at the club to 2016. But despite putting an end to the speculation one small detail in the contract has got the rumour mill going again. It seems that Napoli have inserted a £45m buy out clause. Cavani’s attributes make him an ideal target for Real Madrid boss Mourinho. The Manager has made no secret of his desire to bring another striker to the Santiago Bernabeu. The Uruguayan’s Physical presence and quality in the air make him an ideal candidate and the buyout clause would be of little concern to Real.

Daniele De Rossi

A one-club man is a rare thing in the modern game so the idea of the Roma legend leaving the club would not be welcome news for fans of the Giallorossi. However the unthinkable is starting to look more and more likely. Manchester United have been sniffing around for a number of seasons and De Rossi has yet to sign a new contact with Roma. With just a year left on his current deal it is unlikely the club will risk losing him for nothing. The World Cup winner’s experience and his ability to play the box-to-box role would make him the missing piece in the jigsaw for Manchester United’s midfield.

Sanchez wont stay will he? Will Palermo be in Europe if it loses cup final?

The only hope they have of keeping him is CL football. Palermo are confirmed in the EL next season regardless of the outcome
