German giants Bayern Munich have heavily criticized new Juventus signing Arturo Vidal, just hours after his deal to Turin was officially announced.

Vidal joined the Bianconeri from Bayer Leverkusen, however according to Bayern Munich chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, the move should not have gone through.

The Bayern chief declared that the Chilean and his club had a mutual agreement in place, that should he leave Leverkusen, Munich would be his new destination.

“I do not find it sad that Vidal did not come here. I would rather not have such players at Bayern Munich” Rummenigge told The Kicker.

“If the player had stuck to his word and shown the same character as new signings Manuel Neuer or Jerome Boateng, if he were a man of morals, then he would be here with us today.”

The Italians were quick to defend their new recruit, releasing a statement shortly after the comments were made.

It read: “With regards to the Vidal situation, Juventus operated according to the market rules which foresee an agreement with a club, Bayer Leverkusen in this case, and with a player.

“It seems that Rummenigge opted for less orthodox channels. They have missed out on a great opportunity in the transfer market and in terms of communication – their silence would have been preferable.
