Claudio Marchisio has come on leaps and bounds this season and is part of a formidable midfield three at Juventus alongside Arturo Vidal and veteran Andrea Pirlo.

He came through the Juventus youth system and has become an established member of the club and already a household name. He is one of the first names on Marcelo Lippi’s Italian teamsheet and he is an obvious reason as to why his club team has maintained an unbeaten start to the league campaign after fourteen games.

Marchisio is Juventus’ joint top goalscorer in Serie A this term together with Alessandro Matri with six goals in thirteen appearances surpassing last season’s tally of four goals in all competitions.

Beginning his career as a tough tackling midfielder lacking creativity, he played the defensive midfielder role. Anthonio Conte has definitely given him license to push on this year especially playing with two defensively minded players he can go forward more and express himself. He does get a sudden rush of blood however and picks up bookings and silly fouls but we have to remember he’s only 25 and has a extremely bright career ahead of him and he will be an asset to Juventus and Italy ver the years.

He is sure to light up Euro 2012 in Poland and Ukraine so don’t be surprised to see a Chelsea, Barcelona, Real Madrid or one of the Manchester clubs making enquiries for him, he is that good. Juventus has the ambition and power to keep hold of him and Marchisio has been very loyal and patient, waiting for his chance so it may prove difficuilt to prize him away from his childhood club.

Marchisio told Tuttosport: “I never even thought about leaving Juventus. I had only just signed a contract extension and had absolutely no reason to think about a transfer.”

It’s a long season ahead and if you look at the other clubs in Italy, they all boast bags of talent. In Inter, Napoli, Milan, Udinese, Roma and Lazio there are players there who have the class and ability to win games alone. Marchisio is in this mould and if he can carry on his world class displays he will surely become a player spoken in the same breath as Alessandro Del Piero or Gianluigi Buffon in the coming years.

He has made eighteen appearances for his national team scoring one goal and rave reviews see him now as the number one choice in the central midfield role. The prospect of that starting birth in the European Championships will surely keep Marchisio going and enhance his performances yet further and help his side the Serie A title this year along the way.

Of course there are other players in the Juventus squad but Marchisio is proving a class above at present and he has raised the bar this year making others in the team follow suit.

nice article but please for the love of god get your player info and stats right! he’s turning 26 next month and played as a Del Piero trequartista type player until a coach stuck him in midfield.
