Another eventful week in Italy saw Juventus reclaim top spot in Serie A following a 1-1 draw at home to Cagliari. The Bianconeri took advantage of AC Milan’s defeat to Inter in the Derby della Madonnina as well as Udinese’s shock loss away to Genoa.

We take a look at all the vital statistics from this weekend’s games.

After failing to win in their last three games and failing to score in 219 minutes, Hernanes found the back of the net through a penalty before Miroslav Klose grabbed a late consolation. The German has now played a part in 46.1% of the Biancocelesti’s goals this season, scoring nine and assisting three. Atalanta have failed to win in their last five consecutive away games this season and their top man German Denis failed to score for the second game in a row. Things got worse for the Nerazzurri as the sending off of Stefano Lucchini was the first for them this season.

With only one win from five games, Cagliari traveled to face the unbeaten Bianconeri this season and managed to break Juve’s four match winning record at hoome, and were the first to score against the Old Lady in three games. Juventus took the lead in the seventh minute, keeping their record of scoring oin every home game this season. It should also be noted that Juventus have scored 76% of their goals from open play, more than any other Serie A team this season.

Genoa conceding nine goals in two games before Udinese made the trip to the Marassi, but they got a win against the visitors who had the strongest defense in the league this season, prior to the weekend matches. The Grifone were the first this season to net three goals in one game against Udinese, who for the second outgoing week fail to find win, while on the individual front both team’s stars scored. Rodrigo Palacio upped his tally to seven goals and four assists, a record which has seen him involved in half of Genoa’s goals, while Antonio Di Natale now has 13 goals and has been involved in 61.5% of his team’s strikes, whilst also contributing three assists too. And with Marco Rossi being sent off, Genoa continue to lead their on race in red cards, with that being their seventh of the season.

The worst offense in Serie A, Cesena, surprisingly broke their three game losing streak by scoring three goals which a third of what they had managed in the first 17 games of the season, Adrian Mutu scored a brace taking his tally to six scored with one assist which is 58.3% of his team’s goals. On the other side of the coin Novara haven’t won in their last six games and they also have the worst away record this season getting only two points on the road. Note that only five players have scored this season for Cesena, less than any other team.

Parma extended their unbeaten home streak to six matches as they defeated Siena 3-1. Sebastian Giovinco, who hadn’t scored in six games, bagged one and assisted the other, meaning he now has eight goals and five assists meaning he has contributed to 54.2% of his team’s goals. While Siena have now lost four in a row away from home and have only scored four away goals this season.

The Flying Donkeys continued their superb season as they stole a 1-0 win against Palermo, this is their fourth game undefeated at home as well as their fourth consecutive clean sheet. While Bortolo Mutti failed again to get his first win with his new team, meaning the Rosanero are still yet to win away from home. Note that Chievo have scored only two goals from penalties and set pieces, less than any other team.

Viola suffered 0-1 loss against Lecce, who finally moved from the bottom of the table, as they got their first win after a seven game losing streak. Sersi Cosmi got his first win as Lecce’s coach and this was the first clean sheet for Lecce since their 0-1 win over Cesena back in Novemeber 2011.
